PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tending machine of an axle working type that is equipped with variable speed ground-engaging wheels for imparting resistance to the traveling drive of a machine body, easily adjusts a working speed and tilling depth, reduces an operator fatigue and has improved workability. SOLUTION: The tending machine of an axle working type is equipped with a rotary tilling apparatus 6 furnished with wheels 10 at both ends of a rotary shaft 7 at the front lower part of a machine body and ground-engaging wheels 24 adjustable in the vertical position at the rear of the machine body. The ground-engaging wheels 24 are equipped with driving force imparting means 26 for imparting rotary drive force at a lower speed than a working speed by the drives of the wheels 10. The tending machine is equipped with a pair of the right and left ground wheels 24. The driving force imparting means 26 have a speed change means 29 and an adjustment means 35 for adjusting the driving force imparting means 26 is arranged in the vicinity of the gripping part 2a of a handle 2 extended toward the rear of the machine body.
