The actuator unit (10) has a flexible transmission assembly (44). An actuation force produced by the drive unit (20) and converted by the gear unit (24), is transmitted to the parking brake unit through the transmission assembly. The transmission assembly is formed by a flexible traction cable (46) for transmission of traction-actuating forces. The actuator unit is mounted close to the vehicle wheel.
