The method involves checking whether identification information relating to at least one subscriber of the telecommunications connection (6) is contained in at least one identification information abbreviation (10-12) stored in a list (9) of subscribers to be monitored. If the identification information is contained in the list then listening in (13,14) to the subscriber is allowed. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for making a decision regarding listening to a telecommunications link.
