PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore synchronization between a pickup and a power mechanism without causing a heavy damage in a disk drive even when out-of-sync occurs between the pickup and the power mechanism. SOLUTION: This disk drive is provided with: a rack gear G10 provided in a moving body 12, extending in the moving direction of the moving body 12 with a pickup 13; a pinion gear G8 to be engaged with the rack gear G10; and a cam gear G9 as a power transmission releasing means for releasing power transmission to the rack gear G8 in accordance with a moving end position of the moving body 12. A cam groove 15 is formed in the cam gear G9, the groove width of the cam groove 15 is almost as wide as a pin 9-a in an area where a gear G5 is engaged with a gear G7 to move the pickup 13, but in a part corresponding to the moving end position of the pickup 13, spaces 15-b1 and 15-b2 wider than the pin 9-a are formed so that a switching lever 9 can be moved in the direction of disengaging the gear G5 from the gear G7.
