PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the vertical rigidity of a water sealing material for an expansion gap. SOLUTION: This water sealing material 10 for the expansion gap comprises a supporting member 22 for supporting a water sealing sheet 23 and a protective layer 24, the water sealing sheet 23 for water-sealing the expansion gap, and a protective layer 24 for being placed on the water sealing sheet 23. The supporting member 23 is provided with a honeycomb structure 33. The honeycomb structure 33 is composed of a plurality of cells 32 which are partitioned with bulkheads 31 elongated in parallel in a vertical direction. Each of the cells 32, which presents a regularly-hexagonal cross-sectional shape in an unexpanded/uncontracted state, can be expanded/contracted in a horizontal direction L.
