PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a silicone modified with a polyalkylene oxide, scarcely emitting odorous substances generated by the decomposition of the polyalkylene oxide and suitable for cosmetics, medical instruments, etc. SOLUTION: A silicone modified with a polyalkylene oxide is heat-treated with an aqueous solution having a pH of≤7 or an acid substance, an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and water are added to extract water-soluble impurities with water, and the solvent and low volatile matters are distilled off from the aromatic hydrocarbon phase to decrease the odorous substances derived from by-products.
