PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous resin composition forming a coating film having extremely excellent solvent resistance and a coating agent containing the resin composition. SOLUTION: The aqueous resin composition contains (A) a core-shell resin particle comprising a shell layer composed of (a1) a urethane resin having a carboxy group and a core layer composed of (a2) a vinyl polymer having a group containing a basic nitrogen atom, (B) a compound having a hydrolyzable silyl group or silanol group and an epoxy group, and an aqueous medium, wherein the core-shell resin particle (A) is dispersed in the aqueous medium.
