METHOD FOR PRODUCING GLYCEROL CARBONATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for producing glycerol carbonate and glycidol in high purity in high yield using glycerol and urine as raw materials. SOLUTION: (1) The method for producing the glycerol carbonate comprises a step 1 of reacting the glycerol with the urine in the presence of a catalyst and affording the glycerol carbonate and a step 2 of purifying the resultant glycerol carbonate by the thin-film distillation. (2) The method for producing the glycidol comprises subjecting the glycerol carbonate prepared by the method to a decarboxylation reaction. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
