PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for regenerating an electrode tip in a gas shielded consumable electrode type arc welding apparatus, by correcting the pore diameter of the through hole of an electrode wire in the electrode tip, returning the diameter to the size before use, and making the electrode tip to be used again in welding, wherein the tip end has been changed in quality due to welding longer than a prescribed time, with the pore diameter enlarged more than a prescribed size. SOLUTION: This method is used for regenerating electrode tip in gas shielded consumable electrode type arc welding. The electrode tip 1, in which the pore diameter of the through hole of an electrode wire at the tip end is enlarged due to welding longer than a prescribed time, is pressurized by press in a part in a prescribed size from the tip end in the longitudinal direction to form the part by pressure into a shape with a prescribed outer diameter. Then, the part of the electrode wire through hole 1a is formed that is deformed (the pore diameter is reduced) by press forming, is drilled to form the through hole 1a for the electrode wire having a prescribed inner diameter d1.
