An image forming system, a device for extracting a color feature which has the strong discernment for an image and a method thereof are provided to extract color features having strong discernment for environments where the image formation and scene are different, and offer a focus area for controlling the state of an image forming unit. A photographing device(901) photographs the image of an object. A color feature extraction device(902) receives the image from the photographing device, extracts color features having strong discernment from the received image to generate the final color model of the object, extracts/analyzes the color blob of the object based on the final color model, and then generates a variable for controlling the state of the photographing device according to the analysis result. A control device(903) receives the variable from the color feature extraction device, and then controls the state of photographing device. A storage device(904) stores the image of the photographed object. A display device(905) shows the image of the photographed object.
