Provided is a 5alphareductase inhibitor containing Alpinia officinarum extracts, which has effects of inhibiting 5alphareductase, relieving pimples and suppressing sebum secretion. A 5alphareductase inhibitor comprises the 0.0001~10wt% of Alpinia officinarum extracts. A cosmetic composition for sebum reduction or acne improvement contains the 0.0001~10wt% of Alpinia officinarum extracts. The cosmetic composition has a formulation selected from the group consisting of solution, colloidal suspension, oil emulsion, paste, lotion, powder, soap, surfactant-containing cleansing oil, powder foundation, emulsion foundation, wax foundation and spray.
