A system and a method for transmitting/receiving a binding update message in a communication system are provided to sense movement of an MS and set an overlay multicast session between control stations. When an ACR(Access Control Router) to which an MS(Mobile Station) 1 belongs does not receive a router advertisement message or receives the router advertisement message from ACRs, the MS senses that the MS 1 reaches to an IP(Internet Protocol) domain boundary. The ACR 1 managing the MS 1 receives data which an MS 2 transmits(335). The received data is delivered to an adjacent ACR in which the overlay multicast session is set(337,339).
