The invention aims at providing a process for production of a dialkyltin compound from a deactivated dialkyltin catalyst composition and a process of producing a dialkyltin catalyst from the dialkyltin compound and using the catalyst in the production of carbonic esters. The invention provides a process for the production of dialkyltin compounds by subjecting a deactivated dialkyltin catalyst composition generated in producing an ester to alkyl redistribution reaction and/or dealkylation.
