<p>The procedure for joining two articles e.g. construction units by resistance welding, resistance soldering or magnetically moved arc, comprises contacting the articles with one another in an area to be joined, melting a base material of the articles in the contact area, and supplying an inert gas and/or an inert gas mixture to the contact area, so that melting of the base material takes place in an inert gas atmosphere. The resistance welding or the resistance soldering is carried out by a spot welding, point-type resistance soldering, projection welding or roller seam welding method.
