MOBILE TERMINAL AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF

A portable terminal and a control method thereof are provided to use one of screens which a user selects or generates as a stand-by screen by selecting the one screen through a touch and drag manner. A touch screen displays the first screen as a stand-by screen. In case the first screen is dragged after being touched, a controller(180) displays the second screen which is preset correspondingly to the dragged direction and then sets up the second screen as a new stand-by screen. The dragged direction is one of top and bottom, right and left, and diagonal directions centering on the stand-by screen. The controller sets up a screen selected on a menu screen or a screen generated based on a user command as the second screen.
