A core tracking apparatus taking advantage of cylindrical beam and a core tracking method thereof are provided that the seam of incline and plane is accurately measured by getting three dimensional information of the measurement object. A core tracking apparatus taking advantage of cylindrical beam comprises a beam generator(201) for scanning a laser beam, a filter(202) which is located in one side of the beam generation, and transmits the light coming from the beam generation to the circular shape, lens(203) which is separated from the filter, and a camera(205) which is arranged in one side of the beam generation, and takes a picture of the shape formed on the scanned surface.
