An electroluminescent device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to pattern a light emitting layer by using a difference of a wettability change pattern. A first electrode layer(2) is formed on a substrate(1). A wettability change layer(4) is formed on the substrate, and includes an optical catalyst. A wettability of the wettability change layer is changed by an optical catalyst according to an energy irradiation. The energy is irradiated on the wettability change layer into a patterning mode. A wettability change pattern is formed on a surface of the wettability change layer, and includes a lyophilic region(5) and a liquid-repellent region(6). A coating liquid for forming a light emitting layer including quantum dots is coated on the wettability change layer. A light emitting layer(7) is formed on the lyophilic region.
