A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption by boosting up/down a data voltage charged in a liquid crystal capacitor in a forward scan mode or a reverse scan mode. A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel, a timing controller, a clock generating part, a gate driving part, and a data driving part. The liquid crystal panel has a plurality of pixels(PX), and is divided into a display part and a non-display part. The pixel is connected to a gate line(Gi) and a data line(Dj), and includes a pixel switching device(Qp), a liquid crystal capacitor(Clc), and a storage capacitor(Cst). The liquid crystal capacitor has a pixel electrode(PE) of a first substrate(100) and a common electrode(CE) of a second substrate(200). One end of the storage capacitor is coupled with the liquid crystal capacitor. The other end of the storage capacitor is coupled with a storage line(Si). The driving part provides a boost voltage to the other end of the storage capacitor. The boost voltage has a first edge and a second edge. The first edge and the second edge are in a boost voltage output section. A first turn on section exists between the first edge and the second edge. |
