The semiconductor laser is formed as surface-emitting thin film semiconductor laser, and has a semiconductor body (4). Two planar surfaces (12,14) are provided, in which an active layer (10) is provided for generating radiation (20). A reflecting surface (26) is provided, which is inclined to the active layer for releasing the radiation from the active layer to the former planar surface. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing semiconductor laser.
