A METHOD FOR REQUESTING RADIO RESOURCES FOR UPLINK PACKET TRANSMISSION IN GPRS SYSTEM

A method for requesting radio resources for uplink packet transmission in a GPRS system is provided to enable a mobile station to reselect a cell immediately if a monitoring timer is expired, thereby drastically reducing error occurring probability. A mobile station starts a monitoring timer when a packet access process is started(S110). If any message is not received from a network until a preset time elapses, the monitoring timer is expired(S130). The mobile station informs random access failure to a higher layer. And the mobile station performs cell reselection(S140).
