摘要 An apparatus for monitoring an obstacle in an optical cable in real time and a method thereof are provided to sense a transceiving level of the optical cable in real time through N*N optical switches and measure properties of the optical cable such as obstacle. An apparatus for monitoring an obstacle in an optical cable in real time comprises N*N optical switches(30,40), an OTDR(Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) module(70), a CPU module(80), a monitoring server(90) and an operation client(120). The N*N optical switches accommodate the optical cable inserted into OFDs(Optical Fiber Distributor)(50,60) into an in and out terminal. And the N*N optical switches perform automatic and manual switching commands through a user interface by detecting a transceiving light level state of the accommodated optical cable. The OTDR module performs automatic or manual measurement according to a period of the optical cable in real time so that automatic or manual measurement according to a loss value of a line(35) and a measurement distance is performed in real time.
