Disclosed is a polypeptide comprising an antibody epitope, wherein the antibody epitope comprises 5 to 25 contiguous amino acids of a polypeptide of SEQ ID NO:3 (STEAP-2), and wherein the antibody epitope further comprises at least one amino acid position corresponding to an amino acid position selected from the group consisting of: (a) an amino acid position having a value equal to or greater than 0.5 in the Hydrophilicity profiles of Figures 5A to 5E; (b) an amino acid position having a value equal to or less than 0.5 in the Hydropathicity profiles of Figures 6A to 6E; (c) an amino acid position having a value equal to or greater than 0.5 in the Percent Accessible Residues profiles of Figures lA to lE; (d) an amino acid position having a value equal to or greater than 0.5 in the Average Flexibility profiles of Figures 8A to 8E; (e) an amino acid position having a value equal to or greater than 0.5 in the Beta-turn profiles of Figures 9A to 9E; (f) a combination of at least two of (a) through (e); (g) a combination of at least three of (a) through (e); (h) a combination of at least four of (a) through (e); and (i) a combination of five of (a) through (e). Also disclosed is the use of this polypeptide to treat cancer.
