摘要 A control system for a machine having a tool arranged to move through a known path of movement is provided. The control system includes a detector to find the location of objects in or adjacent to the path of the tool, and a processor/ controller to determine the distance between the objects and a leading edge of the tool, where the control system includes a first mode of operation in which the processor/ controller controls movement of the tool. This ensures that if it is determined that the distance between the objects and the leading edge is not within minimum and maximum values, the tool is moved to bring said distance between the minimum and maximum values.
