<p>A shift control device of the auto transmission is provided to improve the shift allowance and prevent the deterioration of drivability by predicting the clutch temperature. A transmission control unit performs the shift in the form of the first shift. The thermal budget operation unit computes the current thermal budget state of the friction element. The first calorific value prediction unit predicts the calorific value in the friction element before the speed change start. The first thermal budget prediction unit predicts the thermal budget state in the variable speed ending of the friction element based on the current thermal budget state.
