The invention provides ring-opening metathesis polymers useful as the material of optical elements, products of hydrogenation of the same, and a process for production thereof. The invention relates to a ring-opening metathesis polymer which comprises as the essential components repeating structural units [A] represented by the general formula [1] and repeating structural units [B] represented by the general formula [2] at a constitutional molar ratio [A]/[B] of 0.1/99.9 to 100/0; and products of hydrogenation of the polymer.
