A method for manufacturing a composite insulating panel of the type comprising an external metal skin (2), an internal metal skin (3) and an insulating core of foam material (4) therebetween, is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: conveying one of the metal skins continuously along a flat bed with an outer surface of the skin lowermost; laying down liquid insulating foam reactants onto the first skin; leading the second metal skin continuously over the liquid insulating foam reactants and the first metal skin; heating the assembly in an oven to allow the foam reactants to expand to form an insulating core between the metal skins; cutting the panel to a desired length, thus exposing cut foam edges, and applying a seal to at least one of the exposed cut foam edges of the panel. The seal, which comprises a gas and/or vapour barrier, is applied in-line. An insulating panel is also disclosed. |
