FIELD: physics, nuclear physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear engineering, particularly to mobile protective containers meant for transportation and storing spent fuel assembly. Container for transporting and storing spent fuel assembly contains a case with a base, lid and end damping devices. Inside the case is installed a gripping cover with the spent fuel assembly cowling with a lid. One of the damping devices is placed between the lids of the case and cowlings, the other is made in the form of damping elements, are evenly arranged between the cowling and the base. Cowling is evenly arranged and rigidly fixed on the outer diameter lengthwise forming damping elements. Each damping element cowling and base has a section of Omega shape.
