The method involves circulating gas through acid adsorbing solid (SA1) e.g. faujasites zeolithes X or Y, in order to adsorb a portion of mercaptans (4) in gas and obtain the acid adsorbent solid carried by the mercaptans and the gas debased in the mercaptans. Liquid containing olefin (9) is circulated through acid adsorbent solid (SA3) carried by the mercaptans, so that the mercaptans react with the olefin to form sulfides. Purge gas (15) is traversed through acid adsorbent solid (SA2) in order to evacuate an effluent containing portion of the liquid.
