PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shredder with a screw compression device which is of a simple construction with high compression efficiency and requires only simple after-treatment procedures. SOLUTION: This shredder with a screw compression device comprises (1) a shredder body incorporating a shredding unit at the upper stage of an enclosure, (2) a screw conveyor which receives shreds by a hopper and discharges the shreds from a discharge aperture in the axial direction, (3) a shred storage bag connected with the discharge aperture, (4) a guard plate which is installed on the side of the enclosure, surrounding the storage bag and regulates the expansion of the storage bag, and (5) a truck for placing the storage bag. In addition, the screw conveyor equipped with a hopper conveys the shreds in the axial direction by means of a screw blade, and is installed on a movable loading table with a capability to set the direction of the discharge aperture at an arbitrary angle from horizontally to upwardly. The guard plate is installed on the side of the enclosure in the way to surround the storage bag with a three-way side wall panel, and has the front end immobilized using a securing fastener, with the front side arranged to be openable by a hinge fitted to the rear plate.
