<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce increments of tension and its vector generated on an airbag while controlling pressure in the airbag. <P>SOLUTION: This airbag device comprises an inflater, and the airbag 1 to be developed by supply gas from the inflater. In the airbag 1, there are provided a plurality of joint portions 2 mounted along a development outermost portion 1a in view from the side an occupant M, an annular pull member 3 slidably held by the joint portions 2, and a tension member 4 connected at one end to the pull member 3 between the joint portions 2 adjacent to each other and fixed at the other end to the upper or lower part of the airbag 1. During the development of the airbag 1, a side wall portion of the airbag 1 is pulled down inside the airbag 1 beyond the outer periphery of the airbag 1 by the joint portions 2 to form a plurality of recessed portions 1b in the direction of the depth of the airbag 1 in view from the side of the occupant M.
