PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a methacrylate resin plate which is superior in releasability from a casting mold made of a stainless steel plate, is stable and has excellent product quality. SOLUTION: The stainless steel plate subjected to heating treatment at temperature between 80°C and 200°C in an air atmosphere is used as the casting mold and methyl methacrylate or a mixture composed of methyl methacrylate and other vinyl monomer copolymerizable with the methyl methacrylate is polymerized in the casting mold to obtain a planar molding. In the method for manufacturing the methacrylate resin plate, the stainless steel plate where amount of Fe(0 value) in Fe at the stainless steel plate surface is 12% or less is preferably used.
