PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an autotensioner reduced in the number of part items and capable of exhibiting stable damper operation even if a belt is vibrated at a high frequency. SOLUTION: In this autotensioner 6, an operating fluid is stored in a cylinder 10, a rod 13 is inserted into a sleeve 11 freely to slide in the axial direction so as to partition the inside of the cylinder 10 into a pressure chamber 14 and a reservoir chamber 15, the pressure chamber 14 and the reservoir chamber 15 are made to communicate with each other through a leak gap 23, a return spring 17 for energizing the rod 13 in a direction for expanding a volume of the pressure chamber 14 is provided, an oil passage 24 making a lower part of the pressure chamber 14 communicate with a lower part of the reservoir chamber 15 is formed between fitting surfaces of a sleeve fitting recessed part 12 and the sleeve 11, and a seal ring 28 having fitting openings 30 and 31 is provided in the sleeve 11 freely to move in the axial direction so as to open and close the end of the oil passage 24 at the pressure chamber 14 side thereof by the seal ring 28. When the seal ring 28 is expanded in diameter, the outer periphery of the seal ring 28 and the inner periphery of a lower part of the sleeve 11 are brought in linear-contact with each other.
