PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical filter for display which can be manufactured at low cost with high productivity on the whole, and to provide the optical filter for display. SOLUTION: On one surface of a long-sized transparent base 21 unwound and supplied from a roll body 30, metal mesh patterns 22 corresponding to the screen size of a display are provided at fixed intervals along the length of the transparent base 21. Each of the metal mesh patterns 22 comprises a mesh pattern made of a thin film of conductive metal and a plating layer stacked thereupon, an electrode frame 23 comprising metal meshes or a metal thin film is disposed at a periphery of the metal mesh pattern 22, and a single optical function layer film 31 is stacked on the metal mesh pattern 22 in the electrode frame 23. After a long-sized optical filter 32 is formed, the long-sized optical filter 32 is cut to the external shape size of the electrode frame 23 to form a single optical filter 50 for each display.
