PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly tense up a sheet with a sheet expanding apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a supporting member 14 to be mounted on a frame 1, a storing member 21 having a groove 22 for storing the end 5 of a sheet 2, a fitting member 26 to be fitted into the groove 22 together with the end 5 of the sheet 2 for fixing the end 5 to the groove 22, and a tension applying means 18 for applying a predetermined tension to the sheet 2 by adjusting the position of the storing member 21 with respect to the supporting member 14. A projection 44 is provided to the fitting member 26. An elastic tongue piece 41 is provided to the storing member 21. Upon fitting the fitting member 26 into the groove 22 together with the end 5 of the sheet 2, the elastic tongue piece 41 is pushed away by the projection 44 of the fitting member 26, and after having the fitting member 26 fitted into the groove 22, the elastic tongue piece 41 returns from the pushed-away state to the original state for limiting the position of the sheet 2 and the projection 44 without being moved toward the opening side of the groove 22.
