The invention relates to a method for installing a wind turbine (1) that does not require the use of large cranes. The invention comprises the use of a supporting element (8) including: four legs (9), an upper element (10) for coupling same to a tower (5), a set of pulleys and two pivoting connectors. The wind turbine (1) is first assembled on the ground and then raised until the tower (5) is connected to the pivoting connectors of the supporting element (8), the latter step being performed using a capstan which pulls a cable (11) connected to means (6) for securing same to the tower (5) and which extends through the set of pulleys of the supporting element (8). Subsequently, another cable and a capstan located on the foundation (7) of the tower (5) are used to turn the wind turbine (1) until the base of the tower (5) is connected to the foundation (7) and the wind turbine (1) is connected to the supporting element (8).
