PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an editing device capable of performing image editing suitable to user's preference by designating an area of video to be played and a display method of the video with image data of an editing source in an undestructive state, and a playback apparatus. SOLUTION: A control part 6 of the editing device 1 outputs information of a position and a size about a segment area of an image inputted from an inputting part 5, to be displayed by enlarging the image, and information of a designated time, or the like to a segment processing part 7 and a playback time acquiring part 8, and a playlist information converting part 9 generates playlist information by obtaining outputs from them. The playlist information is stored in a storage medium apart from video data. The playback apparatus 21 edits the video data according to the playlist information and plays back the video data.
