PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed reducer capable of driving a rotor with respect to a shaft piece stably and smoothly and enhancing product quality and durability. SOLUTION: The speed reducer 10 includes a housing 12, a shaft 16 having a peripheral surface where threads 14 are formed and inserted into the housing, and a decelerating mechanism 18 installed in the housing 12 and engaged with the shaft 16, wherein the decelerating mechanism 18 is composed of a first nut 40 arranged in a first hole 26 of the housing 12, a second nut 42 arranged in a second hole 28 formed offset from the first hole 26, and a joint member 44 installed between the first and the second nuts 40, 42 for restricting their relative rotational displacement.
