PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the ventilation efficiency of a roof structure by reducing the fluid resistance of the outside air flowing up through the gap between the substrate of a roof and flat roof tiles. SOLUTION: The roof crosspiece 16 of generally right-triangular or generally trapezoidal shape in cross section is secured to the substrate 15 of the roof with the vertical surface positioned on the ridge side and the sloped surface 16b positioned on the eaves side. The flat tile 13 having a recess 28 formed in the rear surface of the hip part 23 of a tile body B by partly cutting is disposed on the substrate. The flat tile is so disposed on the roof crosspiece that the sloped surface is opposed to the recess, a locking projection 27 projecting from the rear surface downward is locked to the roof crosspiece 16, and the flat tile is nailed to the roof crosspiece.
