PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mesa type vibrating piece and a mesa type vibrating device in which contour vibration and bending vibration being unnecessary vibration are suppressed. SOLUTION: The mesa vibrating piece 10 has a blank 12 provided with a thick part 14 and a thin part 16 disposed adjacent to the thick part 14. In the blank 12, thickness-shear vibration is excited as main vibration. At least one of ends 14a of the thick part 14 crossing in the direction of thickness-shear vibration is provided with a parallel part 14b in parallel to an opposing end 14a and a bending part 14c bent with respect to the parallel part 14b. When a length of the end 14a of the thick part 14 is Mz and a length of the parallel part 14b is Ml, a relationship Ml≥Mz/4 is satisfied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
