PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pedestrian from being falsely recognized or omitted, in a pedestrian recognition device for a vehicle. SOLUTION: By adopting a "threshold (a)" as a threshold for recognizing an object in an image detected by the pedestrian recognition device as a person, "B: an object which is difficult to identify as a person" is recognized as "A: an object which is obviously different from a person". By adopting a "threshold (a)", "B: the object which is difficult to identify as a person" is recognized as "C: an object which is obviously identified as a person". When adopting "the threshold (a)" when a vehicle is highly likely to collide with a pedestrian, "B: the object which is difficult to identify as a person" is recognized as a "person", so that it is possible to increase certainty of pedestrian recognition. Also, when adopting the "threshold b" when the vehicle is not likely to collide with the pedestrian, "B: the object which is difficult to identify as a person" is recognized as an "object which is not identified as a person", so that it is possible to suppress the false recognition of the pedestrian.
