<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new enzyme for degrading propylparaben. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is an enzymatic protein derived from a white-rot fungus, Auricularia auricula, having the following properties and actions: it acts on propylparaben in the presence of methanol or ethanol to produce methylparaben or ethylparaben and p-hydroxybenzoic acid; optimal pH: the optimal pH measured at 37°C is about 6; pH stability: it is stable at pH4 to 8, when incubated at 37°C for 20 min at various pHs; and molecular weight: molecular weight measured by SDS-PAGE is about 60 kDa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
