PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bushing bearing which can slidably support shaft members such as a rack shaft with a predetermined stiffness with respect to the radial direction and low frictional resistance with respect to the axial direction, which can also facilitate the reduction in performance variations in thermal history, and which is especially suitable for use in slidably supporting the rack shaft in the steering mechanism for an automobile. SOLUTION: The bushing bearing 1 has a cylindrical inner peripheral surface 3 with which the rack shaft 2 is in slidable contact in the axial direction A, and also has at least one slit 6 which extends from one end face 4 to the other end face 5 in the axial direction A so that the inner peripheral surface 3 can contract freely in the radial direction. The bushing bearing is provided with a synthetic resin-made bushing main body 10, having annular grooves 8, 9 in its cylindrical outer peripheral surface 7, and endless annular elastic members 11, 12 having bigger outer diameters R2 than the diameter R1 of the outer peripheral surface 7 of the bushing main body 10 while being installed in the grooves 8, 9 of the bushing main body 10.
