PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inject a required quantity of lubricating oil into a hydraulic lash adjuster when assembling an engine. SOLUTION: A rocker arm 8 is set on an exhaust valve 3 and the hydraulic lash adjuster 9 installed on a cylinder head 1. A nozzle 27 of a lubricating oil injection device is inserted into an oil hole 20 of a plunger 11 of the hydraulic lash adjuster 9 via an oil feeding hole 22 of the rocker arm 8. Thus, the rocker arm 8 can be held, and a holding tool is not separately required. After installing a camshaft and a cam carrier on the cylinder head 1, the lubricating oil is supplied to the nozzle 27 via a flexible tube 28 from a lubricating oil supply source, and is injected into the hydraulic lash adjuster 9. The nozzle 27 is extracted by pulling up the flexible tube 28. Since the lubricating oil is directly injected into the hydraulic lash adjuster 9 by the nozzle 27, the required quantity of lubricating oil can be injected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
