PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of heat-treating a long object such as a textile, a film, a sheet, a metal foil, and a metal foil laminate capable of efficiently converting a metal foil laminate prepared by directly applying a polyimide resin solution in particular onto a metal foil and subsequently subjecting it to a preliminary drying treatment, into a metal foil laminate free of curling and excellent in such a characteristic as dimensional precision, moisture absorption characteristics, adhesion strength, and the reliability thereof (consistent adhesion strength subsequent to the heat treatment, for example) at a high yield. SOLUTION: The method of heat-treating a metal foil laminate prepared by continuously applying a polyimide resin solution onto a metal foil and subjecting the resulting metal foil laminate to a preliminary drying treatment is characterized in that the metal foil laminate is continuously conveyed by a specific conveying method and heat-treated under a specific condition in a furnace equipped with a far-infrared heater.
