PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a preference information generating apparatus for generating preference information which correctly reflects preference of a viewer from broadcast programs viewed by the viewer. SOLUTION: A preference information generating apparatus 50 comprises: a program selection information generating means 51a for generating program selection information specifying a selected broadcast program selected by the viewer and a non-selected broadcast program which is not selected in the same broadcast time zone; an associated information extracting means 51b for extracting, from an electronic program guide, related information items of the selected broadcast program and the non-selected broadcast program on the basis of the program selection information; a preference related information generating means 51c for generating preference related information indicating the preference relation of the viewer between the related information items of the selected broadcast program and the non-selected broadcast program; and a priority calculating means 53b for calculating priority indicating the degree of preference for each of related information on the basis of the preference related information to obtain preference information.
