PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recorder which can output an image held in balance between a quality and a speed without a life of a recording head being unnecessarily damaged even when multi-pass recording of odd-numbered passes is performed. SOLUTION: In bidirectional multi-pass recording of odd-numbered passes of a relatively small pass number, a stepping mask is used to suppress image problems caused by a difference in recording permission ratio between forward scan and backward scan. On the other hand, in bidirectional multi-pass recording of odd-numbered passes of a relatively large pass number, a flat mask is used to attach importance to suppression of density irregularities caused by individual nozzle variations. In the whole of the recorder, the image held in balance between the quality and speed can be outputted without damaging the life of the recording head. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
