PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide disposable chopsticks which can be efficiently subjected to processing for rounding off their corners of the periphery throughout the length touching the mouth, which have no fibrous projections as in the case of conventional ones and which are comfortable during a meal. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing chopsticks aims at rounding off corners of the periphery throughout the length touching the mouth of a chopstick material 1 which is made by using a coniferous raw material and is split from one end with its periphery remaining angulated throughout the length from one end to the other. The raw material is dried so that its water content may be 5% or less. The other end of the chopstick material 1 is inserted between upper and lower rollers 2 and 2 and the chopstick material 1 is reciprocated back and forth and is also rotated clockwise and counterclockwise to and fro and angles of the two stick-like parts 1a and 1b of the chopstick material 1 are pressed by the upper and lower rollers 2 and 2. The pressure of the chopstick material 1 against the upper and lower rollers 2 and 2 when its stick-like parts 1a and 1b are reciprocated back and forth and are rotated clockwise and counterclockwise to and fro is 3-5 MPa.
