PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent efficiency degradation when changing the transfer recording paper size; to reduce the risk of leaking; and to prevent the troubles that stripes developed at the edges of the transfer belt in a transfer unit of an image forming device, such as a copying machine, and a printer, for example. SOLUTION: This image forming device has rod-like transfer rollers (8) arranged facing the photoreceptor drum (7) forming toner images on their surfaces and applied with a voltage in the polarity opposite to the toner images on the photoreceptor drum (7). These transfer rollers (8) are arranged back of the transfer belt (5) facing the photoreceptor drums (7) and turning in the predetermined direction. Each transfer roller (8) forms a high resistance area (B) outside the transferring area (A) and changes the width of the transferring area (A) along the circumferential direction of the roller (8).
