PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of low-temperature bubbles while keeping high display quality in a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: Low-temperature bubbles are hardly generated by disposing projections 205 of a dielectric material on a counter substrate 200, the projections as a member having a larger shrinkage rate at low temperature than that of a liquid crystal layer, because in a low temperature environment, the volume of the liquid crystal having low resistance against external shock decreases while the volume of projections 205 having high shock resistance increases between substrates. The probability of generating low-temperature bubbles increases with an increase in the disposition density of a spacer 103, however, the disposition density of the spacer can be maintained while preventing the projections 205 from functioning as a spacer by configuring the projections 205 not to be in contact with the opposing array substrate 100.
