<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device wherein front luminance is made high with a simple structure when light is made incident in a direction oblique to a microlens array. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device having a pair of polarizing plates holding a pair of substrates between them, a liquid crystal layer held between the pair of substrates, transmission aperture parts formed in each pixel and limiting a light quantity transmitting through the liquid crystal layer, a light condensing element formed on the side opposite to the liquid crystal layer disposed side on one substrate and condensing light on the transmission aperture parts and a surface light emitting element emitting light to be emitted to the light condensing element, light emitted from the surface light emitting element is emitted with angles to a perpendicular of the surface light emitting element and relative positions of the transmission aperture parts to the light condensing element are shifted so that the light quantity transmitting through the transmission aperture parts is increased according to the light emitting directions of the surface light emitting element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
